The job holder is responsible for the collection and analysis of the performance and health of payment systems in Kenya.
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
1. Review and design NPS returns templates.
2. Ensure timely submission of NPS returns.
3. Implement an integrated information system for electronic submission of NPS returns.
4. Ensure that data received is processed and required standard reports generated.
5. Design and produce periodic standard analytical reports.
6. Perform analysis and verification of Payment data.
7. Update the statistics on the CBK website.
8. Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
9. Develop and implement a payment system database, a data collection system, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
10. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources to enhance the payment systems information.
11. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
12. Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct data errors.
13. Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
14. Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
15. Draft research papers and basic reports on the analysis of the data collected.
16. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager.
1. Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field e.g. Mathematics, Economics or Statistics.
2. Professional qualifications and memberships are an added advantage.
At least two (2) years’ experience in Payments and Banking operations or other related area.
Technical Competencies
1. Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst.
2. Strong knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
3. Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
4. Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources
5. Strong SQL skills, ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and sub-queries.
6. Understanding of and experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques- hypothesis development, designing tests, analysing data and drawing conclusions
7. Demonstrated experience building and leading quantitative analyses as well experience building response and risk models.
8. Knowledge and understanding of Banking laws and regulations.
9. Good understanding of Central Banking operations
10. Knowledge and understanding of economic issues both local and international.
11. Advanced IT skills
12. Experience working with large data sets and advanced analytical tools, programs, and systems.
13. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
